PROJECT 1

Week 3 ( 13/04/2021 )
Write a 2-3 minutes storyline for Project 1.

Storyline :
A man walking on a street, breathe heavily, wilting under the pressure of life. He walks into a coffee shop, the coffee shop was crowded. He queued up and ordered for an ice latte. While he stands at the side waiting for the waiter to call his name, his phone keep on popping out WhatsApp notification, sounds like informing him never slack off anytime. He sigh, took his coffee and walk out the coffee shop. The street was busy, the road was jam. He walk along the street to the sidewalk, stands at the side and waits for the light to turn green. He put on his earphone and listen to some calmful song while he was waiting. He cross the road, walk to the tallest building where full of stress. Finally the song ended, he reached the place and sigh again. He opened the door and walk into the place where he works as usual. The end!

Lecturer's Feedback :
So there are two soundscapes to play with here. the street and the coffee shop. Since this is a first person perspective, make use of spatial sound to give a sense of direction of where the character is when walking to the coffee shop, and when walking to the office. Example, the traffic might be heavier on the left speaker indicating he's on the right side of the path. there's also a challenge here to portray feelings/emotion. remember there shouldn't be any dialogue to tell the story. Looking forward to see how this project develops.

Week 4 ( 20/04/2021 )
I started to explore some sounds from freesound.org that can fix and express my storyline. It wasn't as easy as I thought before I start this project. It took a lot of time for me to searching for the suitable sound. However, I only imported the sounds I had downloaded into Adobe Audition but haven't do any adjustment yet for my first outcome.

Lecturer's Feedback :
- Add more detail to represent the place, a little bit sudden.
- The open door sound was too soft. (walk into the coffee shop)
- Play more with the cashier sound (louder)
- The crowd sound, bring it down or up a bit, put some sound on the left, let it sound busy on both earphone to make it more realistic.
- Play with the volume.

Week 5 ( 27/04/2021 )
I had do some minor changes for my storyline because I found that it was too long. However, I feels a little bit boring while listening to the first outcome. Below is the changed storyline :

Storyline :
A man walking on a street, breathe heavily, wilting under the pressure of life. He walks into a coffee shop, the coffee shop was crowded. He queued up and ordered for an ice latte. He found a place to sit to calm for awhile and drinks the ice latte, but his phone keep on popping out WhatsApp notification, sounds like informing him never slack off anytime. He sigh, took his coffee and walk out the coffee shop. The street was busy, the road was jam. He walk along the street straight away to the tallest building where full of stress. He sigh again, opened the door and walk into the place where he works as usual. The end!

I continue to edit the sounds in Adobe Audition. Unfortunately, when I open the file to continue editing, all of my working file was deleted with no reason. Which mean I need to redo everything again. This really spent me a lot of time to do it again. However, below is my second outcome :

Lecturer's Feedback :
The sound basement become noticeable. The sound of the lady reduce a bit, sounds too loud. Add open door, chair sound once awhile in the coffee shop, a little bit but not too much. After walking out the coffee shop, can add some detail like people riding bicycle or heavy traffic ambience.

Week 6 ( 04/05/2021 )
Based on the feedback given last week, I had added some sound and do some minor changes for my final outcome. As what lecturer had mentioned, the submission dateline is next week Monday (10/05/2021). We need to upload Adobe audition session file and folder, and the stereo mixdown file in mp3 to google drive and share the link on TIMES. Below is my final outcome :
