COMPLETE DISSERTATION with VISUAL DESIGN

Week 7 ( 13/05/2021 )
When we are submitting the 2nd Assignment (the complete publication design), we are required to create an e-book with pdf. For personal use, we no need to purchase the software. In the online FlipHTML5, the page limit of FlipHTML5 is no more than 500 pages while the size of which is no more than 150 Mb.

Firstly, we need to establish our chosen design. Design the publication of the dissertation. The concept design of the publication must be relevant to the research topic. Since the e-publication format is expected, page layout, publication size, font, font size, are essential elements in this design process. Best to keep at A5 size in case the program requires printing them in hardcopy format for any future audit or MQA accreditation process purpose. we should start with the mood board and share them in the second folder (Complete Dissertation with Visual Design) of our Drive that we have shared initially.  Below is my mood board slides :

Week 8 ( 20/05/2021 )
We had no class today again due to the ILW. I had prepared slides for the publication design mood board references and started to design the first cover page to show Dr.Hayati for the next class. Other than that, I had designed the first outcome of the cover page for this week's tutorial session.

Lecturer's Feedback :
- Find more references of content/table/infographic design from Pinterest or other websites.
- We should use InDesign for the visual design so that it is easier to follow the grid.
- Play with the typography.
I should design a few options for the cover page so that I have more options to select which one is more suitable for my topic.

Week 9 ( 27/05/2021 )
I designed a few more cover pages and sent it to Dr.Hayati to choose which one is more suitable for my dissertation.

Lecturer' s Feedback :
- Option no. 1,2,3 is fine.
- Play around with the title (font type).

Week 10 ( 03/06/2021 )
I continue to design the layout in InDesign. It really took a lot of time to redesign the table and chart, and copy and paste the content to InDesign. However, I already pasted all the text into InDesign but haven’t finished designing the chart and table.

Lecturer's Feedback :
-  Single column design was too legit.
- Find more references of ‘Print magazine layout’.
- Play around with the title, monotone.
- My design was too consistent.
- Redesign the cover page’s title.

Week 11 ( 10/06/2021 )
I had done designing all the charts, tables and each layout design. We had no class for this week because Dr.Hayati was sick. However, we haven’t received any feedback for our draft dissertation yet. I finalised my design and checked if there was any layout design. I still wasn’t very happy yet.

Lecturer's Feedback :
- Check all the English spelling.
- Define for, from etc. for a few sentences.
- Correlate the particular objective then put it into the discussion section which interacts with the objective.
- Appendices must be connected with the section.
- Project recommendation section was too brief, and should describe it in more detail.
- Check the APA format.
- All the appendices' answers should be put in a table form.

Week 13 ( 24/06/2021 )
I had revised those sections which Dr. Hayati had mentioned last week. After this, I updated the latest dissertation to my visual design. Other than that, I also created two visual designs, one is colorful, another one is only using two colors. I was planning to ask Dr.Hayati for her opinion on which one looks nicer.

fig. 1.8 ; option 2 (plain)

Lecturer's Feedback :
- For the visual design, I should explore more on the typeface.
- The Content, Research Theme and 5.2.1 Story page could play around with the design.
- Remove the arrow for the Research Conceptual Framework.

Week 14 ( 01/07/2021 )
I had finished designing the visual design but still haven't receive any feedback from Dr. Hayati yet. Fortunately, she extended the deadline to next Sunday (11/07/2021). However, the only things I can do is to wait for her feedback for the dissertation then I will submit to TURNITIN and update my final visual design.

Finally, I had received my feedback on Wednesday (07/07/2021).

Lecturer' Feedback :

I had added some information and do some minor changes based on the feedback given by Dr. Hayati. It took me a few days to finished the correction for the final dissertation and submit it to the TURNITIN in TIMES. Glad that I didn't exceed 15% for the index similarities. However, below are the TURINITIN files which I had submitted in TIMES :

After this, I quickly rush for the visual design and updated all the content into InDesign due to the deadline is coming up. After a few adjustment I had made, finally I had finished the final visual design. Although I wasn't very happy with my final design, but I had tried my best to finish it with a high quality work in this short time.

As mentioned in MIB, when we are submitting the 2nd Assignment (Final Dissertation with the complete publication visual design), we are required to create an e-book in the online FlipHTML5 with the exported final PDF. I followed step-by-step guide on how to convert our whole dissertation design (in pdf) into a flipbook refer to the guideline which posted in Google Classroom. Fortunately, I was able to finish all the project on time. At last, below is my final e-book design :
