Final Project

Week 10 ( 02/06/2021 )
We are required to create an animated short trailer consisting of at least 5 shots, that depict the story written for the project. For students from Film Studies and Cinematography, the animated short is integrated with the respective module as well. For students who aren't taking Film Studies and Cinematography are required to create your own storyline and simple storyboards for the final project, independently.

First of all, I started to do a rough animatic draft for the 5 chosen shots from my story.

Week 11 ( 09/06/2021 )

I started to draw the background for each scenes.

Week 12 ( 16/06/2021 )

I started to work on the second, third and fifth scenes. I used many different apps for each scenes. This causes my computer become very lag sometimes. I used Photoshop for the drawing, then I import them to either Animate or After Effects for the animate. After then, I export them out and import each finished scene to After Effects to combine them together.

The classroom scene looks very nice. Overall was good.

Week 13 ( 23/06/2021 )

I started to work on the first scene and forth scene which I think it is more difficult than the three scenes I had done last week. Finally, I combine all the scene in After Effects after I had finished all the scenes.

Lecturer's Feedback :

Looks quite good. Now I should try to add some suitable sound effects and background music and prepare for the final presentation. If got time, I could try to animate the hair.

Week 14 ( 30/06/2021 )
Finally, I added the sound effects and background music for the video. It is quite difficult to find a song that can suit a 20 seconds video which included positive and negative mood. Finally, below is my final outcome :

We had a final presentation on week 15 (07/07/2021) together with Film Studies & Cinematography class. Below are my recorded presentation and slide :

Reflection :

For this final project, I was quite disappointed to myself. The outcome wasn't as nice as what I was  expected before I start this project. From the drawing to animating, it wasn't an impressing animation. I tried to add something or add more detailed into each scenes but it still looks very bad compare with others. I showed my parents the final outcome, they also not satisfied with it. I feel like everyone was quite disappointed on me too. I'm not expecting to get a high grade for this module anymore. However, I will practice and explored more on how to animate and draw during the semester break. Hope next animation project I can done better ! 

Last but not least, glad to met Ms. Jennifer and thanks for her careful and patient guidance. She always encouraging and giving me positive energy to move on. All the feedback and suggestion given by her was really very useful for me. My skills had improved a lot compared to before. Although learning online is very boring, but this module always very fun and interesting. As a conclusion, Thank you Ms. Jennifer for everything.
